The Chalk Carpet is a nationally scarce species and is only known from three sites in Warwickshire, namely Nelsons Quarry, Southam Quarry and Bishops Hill in Bishops Itchington. The moth once occured a six locations in our region.
It is fairly common and widespread on calcareous chalk downland and limestone hills in southern England and Wales.
The adult moths are on the wing in July and August and occasionally fly during the day.
